The GCSE Graphics course is based on the AQA specification. 60% is the coursework element consisting of a folder and a finished product. 40% is allocated to the exam in June.
At Heathside, the specification is interpreted as the design and manufacture of a Point of Sale i.e. a display for a product in order to catch the eye of a customer and encourage them to purchase the product or a pop up book/game.
A folder is produced that contains the Product Brief, relevant research into customer requirements, materials, finish etc, ideas pages for the design of the product and then the development of the idea into a manufacturable product. Part of this process is to create a prototype to ensure that the product functions as required. The final part of the folder is the evaluation. A critique of the product.
Below and on the following pages are some examples of student work both at the prototype stage and the finished product.
