Work Related Learning hits DT.
With the Governments new initiative on students gaining experience in the workplace a week of events, activities and guest speakers from various aspects of industry took place at Heathside for our Year 10s. One of the contributions to the week was from the DT department.
The task this year was to design a marble run that would take the longest time to reach the end of the run. The marble must not stop and a limited number of materials have been given to the teams. The other requirement was that the marble must have a release mechanism. Teams designed their runs and then built them. They could, if necessary, buy more materials but this would incur a time penalty for every pound spent. Some of the fun is shown below.
